Fly, Johnson, Fly

05/30/2013

With football season a mere 94 days away, it’s about time to start talking about it. Therefore, I’m doing something I never hardly do: Talking about pro football.

As some most all of you know, Lane Johnson was the first pick for our very own Eagles. Some (obviously non-Sooner) fans have questioned this pick. How good is Johnson? Was he the “right pick” for the team? How will he fare in his first year? Some may say the answers aren’t “Fantastic”, “Duh!” and “Does the phrase ‘Rookie of the Year’ mean anything to you?”. Those people would be sorely mistaken. Just sayin’

That said, here is a good article about Johnson, the O-line, and how the Eagles offensive is doing.

Per the article, Johnson’s goals for his first year extend beyond cheesesteaks. In fact, “Johnson added that he has two specific goals for his rookie season – to be a starter in Week 1 and to make the playoffs.”

What do I think?

Just when you thought you couldn’t love him anymore (YOU THOUGHT YOU COULDN’T LOVE HIM ANYMORE?!), this happened:

I recognize that visor!!!

Who is that man with the visor? I’ll give you a hint, the greatest head coach of OU football who won a national title at the end of the 2000 season. His name rhymes with Rob Roops.

Guessed it yet?

Doing his part, Bob helps out in the tornado relief.

That…that was all. Just wanted to show you Bob doing what he could to help others.

As some of you may know, I am not good with what the kids call “technology”. Me on my cell phone looks a little something like this:

And this may be me on the computer:

But I like to keep people informed. And, I’m told this is getting a little outdated:

Therefore, we must adapt. And, adapt we shall. This dictator has appointed a Propaganda Minion Social Media Chairperson to be in charge of “Twitter”. That’s right, now we will get you news like this:

I can imagine you are reading this because you have some ties to Oklahoma. You went to school there. You dated someone who hailed from the fine state. Your neighbor’s dog’s best friend’s uncle sometimes talks about his sister living there.

Regardless of personal connections, you want to help in the tornado relief. Here is some information below to help you fulfill that wish.

Help us help those in Moore.

NFL Bound

05/23/2013

To kick off (hey-oh!) the updates, thought we would pay tribute to all the Sooners off the pros:

1. Our first Sooner was Lane Johnson. The much sought after tackle was an integral player for OU. Don’t believe me? Check this out. Mr. Johnson was the first pick for the Eagles and the 4th pick overall. From what I can tell, it looks like he’s already pretty happy in Philly!

2. The second Sooner selected (the alliteration, it kills me) was Landry Jones. Mr. Jones stepped up when Sam got hurt and never looked back. Have no idea who I’m talking about? Watch this. Good luck, Landry, from all the Sooners here and everywhere. Off to the Stillers!

3. The third Sooner off to the NFL? Why that would be your favorite wide receiver with a mohawk: Kenny Stills. Mr. Stills was amazing to watch both on and off the field. I mean, the kid provided us with this, this, and this. Now, while you still have him fresh on your mind, watch this. And, because he’s that amazing, remember that time he helped OU beat Free Shoes? Allow this to jog your memory… Or that time he caught the game winning touchdown in Morgantown? Yeah…I do. Now, go be amazing in N’awlins.

4. The next Sooner picked was Stacy McGee (Defensive Tackle). Mr. McGee did what I love the most in football: he hit a lot of people. Don’t know what I mean? Look at this. Mr. McGee may be a Raider (ew!), but I’ll always remember him for things like this. Good luck and stay safe!

5. Still with me? I know…we had a lot. Number 5 Sooner was David King (go figure…another tackle). Mr. King will join Mr. Johnson in Philly (word). Will he spread his wings and fly like an eagle? Yes. And, anyone that does this against texas is a friend of mine!

6. Justin Brown may not have started as Sooner but he ended as one. You may remember such amazing plays as this, or this , or maybe this.

Congrats and BOOMER!!!
